We have an exciting opportunity for a Family Services Caseworker to join our Eastern Integrated Family Services program, based in Croydon.  This position is ongoing and full time.

 

Eastern Integrated Family Services:

The Integrated Family Services program is aimed at supporting families who are experiencing difficulties that impact on parenting and family life.  Working in partnership with alliance partners across the municipalities of Manningham, Monash, Booroondara, Whitehorse, Maroondah, Knox and Yarra Ranges, and in close partnership with a range of other agencies including VACCA and Child Protection, the IFS program provides a range of supports to increase the life opportunities for children, young people and families who are in most need.

 

The Position:

The key objectives of this position are the provision of a high quality service designed to meet the needs of families while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of their children.

This is achieved by:

  • Providing outreach services to families that are flexible and creative to meet the needs of children, young people and their families
  • Proactively intervening and working from an integrated approach with other services to ensure positive outcomes for children, young people and families
  • Developing and implementing tailored interventions in collaboration with children, young people, families and other service providers
  • Undertaking ongoing risk assessments to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and young people

To be successful in your application you will meet the Key Selection Criteria in the Position Description attached, including having a relevant tertiary qualification in a Social Work or Psychology related field.

  • Summarise your knowledge and use of the Child Youth and Families Act 2005 and Best Interest Principles
  • Summarise your knowledge and applied use of theoretical approaches relevant to working with children and families, including: strengths based approach, child development, family systems theory, infant mental health, attachment theory and any others that are relevant
  • Demonstrate your ability by describing examples of how you have assessed risk to families, children and/or adolescents
  • Summarise examples of how you have planned and implemented appropriate interventions in relation to the development of parenting capacity and family functioning
  • Demonstrate your ability by describing examples of how you have actively engaged families
